Tutoring Program
Under the "No Child Left Behind" Act, students in Title I schools that have been identified as "Schools in Need of Improvement" are eligible for Supplemental Educational Services (including tutoring) from a provider approved by the Department of Education.
As an approved provider, Children's Arts & Science Workshops, Inc. offers group tutoring sessions in English Language Arts and Reading. The program focuses on the five major components of reading with a curriculum utilizing guided reading, word work and individual student portfolios, as well as pre- and post- testing to determine reading level, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
A special education teacher and bilingual (Spanish/English) staff members are available for students with disabilities or limited English proficiency.
Parents must comply with the school district's process for enrolling in the program. An SES information package (and enrollment form) will be sent home with eligible students in September through the school.
